MudHog (mûd - hôg) n.
1. a domesticated youth between the sages of 5 and 14, well padded and protected, with a desire to perform to the best of his abilities, often found on a football field in the Farmington (CT) Valley.
2. one that is dedicated and committed to the principles of teamwork, i.e. 11 = 1.
The Farmington Valley MudHogs football and cheer organization is a growing program comprised of youths from the surrounding towns of Farmington, Avon, Burlington, Harwinton, and Canton.
Eating is FUN! But, our friends at Cosi on Rt. 44 in Avon, have made it even more fun by holding a MudHog Day each month where a percentage of the days profits goes back to our awesome organization! So, feel free to eat without ANY guilt whatsoever!!!
Are you ready for some football??? Or cheerleading???
It's almost time, so settle down, MudHoggers!
We can't WAIT to get started, either, so we totally know how you feel!!!
Our season officially starts with the tackle rating/cheer practice week. This year it runs 8/11-8/14 from 6PM-7:30PM at the Union School in Farmington. Please arrive early, by 5:30, on the first day if you can as we will need to weigh all players.
Please remember, tackle players, that you need to attend at least three days of practice before being issued a helmet. If you cannot attend the rating week, but want to play, just register and let us know. Your child will be placed on a team and given equipment regardless (just not that helmet until three practices have been completed--safety first!). The tackle draft will take place on 8/15 and you will find out what team your child is on either that night via email (depends on the coach), or the next morning at the first round of equipment pick up.
We always try our best to ensure a fun, safe environment for the kids involved in our league but now we have an article on ESPN to help bolster our efforts and provide us with some positive feedback!
